Experience two moving, boldly vibrant masterpieces: Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Pictures at an Exhibition. Japanese violinist Akiko Suwanai is back with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in the company of conductor Kahchun Wong.
A star encounter with Canellakis & Hadelich
Highly in-demand conductor Karina Canellakis performs with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra with star violinist Augustin Hadelich. Hear Bartók’s intense Violin Concerto and Shostakovich’s masterful final symphony.
Víkingur Ólafsson and Herbert Blomstedt
The incredibly popular Víkingur Ólafsson is back with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, this time with maestro Herbert Blomstedt. Experience a unique evening with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 and Brahms’ Symphony No. 4.
Ein deutsches Requiem
Brahms’s magnificent choral work reminds us of what Christmas may be most deeply about: hope, humanity and togetherness. Featuring the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, soprano Christina Nilsson, baritone Christoph Pohl and conductor Marie Jacquot.
Pekka Kuusisto in Sibelius Violin Concert
Explosiveness, tempo and rest as Pekka Kuusisto plays and conducts Sibelius’ Violin Concerto with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. In Kuusisto’s hands, the music is born anew.
Shimmering Horn Concerto by Helen Grime
High intensity and cinematic tones prevail as Alec Frank-Gemmill plays a fresh horn concerto by Helen Grime, together with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Korngold’s symphony is gentle and moving under the baton of Eun Sun Kim.
Spring Concert with Heyward & Hardenberger
Hear light conquer darkness as world-renowned trumpet player Håkan Hardenberger returns to perform with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. He is accompanied by Jonathon Heyward, rising star from Baltimore, who leads the orchestra in Shostakovich’s gripping Symphony No. 7.
Mahler Symphony No. 5
Follow along to a world of imagination and a tapestry of strings. We hear Debussy’s remarkable Prelude and a new lullaby, before getting ready for Mahler’s Symphony No. 5. Conducted by Pierre Bleuse.
Barber Cello Concerto
American 20th century meets Russian late-Romanticism in a rich and emotional programme with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Hear Barber’s heartfelt Cello Concerto with Chinese cellist Li-Wei Qin, now in Sweden for the first time.
Chaplin Songs
Hear soprano Camilla Tilling in Daniel Nelson’s award-winning Chaplin Songs, a musical take on the political satire The Great Dictator. The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and conductor Andrew Manze also present Alfvén’s Symphony No. 3.
