Season Opening with Pekka Kuusisto
Enjoy vibrant saxophone and shimmering sunrise as the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Pekka Kuusisto launch the season. High energy is guaranteed with the sounds of Anders Hillborg, Ida Moberg and Mahler.
The Seasons in New Colours
Hear a new take on Vivaldi’s energetic seasons and Schumann’s imaginative Piano Concerto. Conductor Kent Nagano leads the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra together with acclaimed pianist Rudolf Buchbinder.
Songs of Hope and Joy
An evening in the spirit of humanism. The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra present three generations of composers in a magnificent evening of organ, choir and soloists. The finale is Mendelssohn’s spectacular Lobgesang.
To Broadway with Nils Landgren
Sparkling sounds of jazz and musicals as superb trombone player Nils Landgren and his band join the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Original compositions are woven together with Bernstein’s rich trove of songs for a concert of warmth and togetherness.
Beethoven Violin Concerto
Experience two moving, boldly vibrant masterpieces: Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Pictures at an Exhibition. Japanese violinist Akiko Suwanai is back with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in the company of conductor Kahchun Wong.
Víkingur Ólafsson and Herbert Blomstedt
The incredibly popular Víkingur Ólafsson is back with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, this time with maestro Herbert Blomstedt. Experience a unique evening with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 and Brahms’ Symphony No. 4.
Ein deutsches Requiem
Brahms’s magnificent choral work reminds us of what Christmas may be most deeply about: hope, humanity and togetherness. Featuring the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, soprano Christina Nilsson, baritone Christoph Pohl and conductor Marie Jacquot.
Electric guitar through fire & water
A world premiere by composer Ming Tsao that gives off sparks! The electric guitar is in focus, backed by the entire Gothenburg Symphony. Conductor Brad Lubman also hands us Stravinsky’s famous suite from The Firebird and music from Star Wars.
Shimmering Horn Concerto by Helen Grime
High intensity and cinematic tones prevail as Alec Frank-Gemmill plays a fresh horn concerto by Helen Grime, together with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Korngold’s symphony is gentle and moving under the baton of Eun Sun Kim.
To the Light with Mendelssohn and Fauré
Barbara Hannigan gathers the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, choir and soloists in a concert that ushers towards lighter times. Hear Mendelssohn’s peaceful journey across the sea, and Fauré’s beloved Requiem.
Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra & Bruce Liu
The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Ryan Bancroft return for a guest performance in Gothenburg with a temperamental and varied programme. Hear soloist Bruce Liu perform Paganini variations on piano.
Sibelius Symphony No. 2 with Sallinen
Conductor Kristian Sallinen returns with an evening of Finnish music. We are taken on an adventure with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Iveta Apkalna on organ, arriving safe at Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2.
Chaplin Songs
Hear soprano Camilla Tilling in Daniel Nelson’s award-winning Chaplin Songs, a musical take on the political satire The Great Dictator. The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and conductor Andrew Manze also present Alfvén’s Symphony No. 3.
