Hear phenomenal organist Anna Lapwood with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. We move from divine mysteries to cosmic melodies and the world of film in music by Richter, Zimmer, Arakelyan and Saint-Saëns.
Myth and Mystery with Barbara Hannigan
Barbara Hannigan takes on Ligeti’s Macabre once again, which she made a modern classic. But first, Bartók’s erotic tale, Vivier’s journey through space, and a dazzling Haydn symphony. All with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
Piano magic with Christian Zacharias
Baroque gems and French esprit as Christian Zacharias presents a solo programme for piano. The music of Haydn and Schubert contain playfulness, depth and lyrical beauty.
Electric guitar through fire & water
A world premiere by composer Ming Tsao that gives off sparks! The electric guitar is in focus, backed by the entire Gothenburg Symphony. Conductor Brad Lubman also hands us Stravinsky’s famous suite from The Firebird and music from Star Wars.
Pekka Kuusisto in Sibelius Violin Concert
Explosiveness, tempo and rest as Pekka Kuusisto plays and conducts Sibelius’ Violin Concerto with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. In Kuusisto’s hands, the music is born anew.
Spring Concert with Heyward & Hardenberger
Hear light conquer darkness as world-renowned trumpet player Håkan Hardenberger returns to perform with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. He is accompanied by Jonathon Heyward, rising star from Baltimore, who leads the orchestra in Shostakovich’s gripping Symphony No. 7.
Mahler Symphony No. 5
Follow along to a world of imagination and a tapestry of strings. We hear Debussy’s remarkable Prelude and a new lullaby, before getting ready for Mahler’s Symphony No. 5. Conducted by Pierre Bleuse.
On the Road with Byström & Beethoven
Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and conductor Pekka Kuusisto conclude the season with power and energy. We hear Britta Byström’s colourful orchestral adventure and celebrate Beethoven’s anniversary with the life-affirming Symphony No. 7.
