Västra Götaland’s Youth Symphony Orchestra (VÄGUS) have mastered the art of playing classical music in a manner that includes everyone. On this occasion they perform Mahler’s Second Symphony, a breathtaking journey from death to the resurrection, together with youth choirs from Gothenburg. It is VÄGUS’ largest concert ever, with over 200 young people on stage!
Famous works or majestic symphonies – in the hands of VÄGUS, everything is performed with the unmistakeable passion and energy that has become their special trademark. The Youth Symphony Orchestra is constantly undergoing change and renewal – only conductor Simon Kim Phipps has been involved since the very start in 2000. The orchestra consists of around 80 young musicians aged 13-20 from the whole of Västra Götaland, and for many of them VÄGUS becomes a memory for life.
The concert will also be played in Vara Konserthus 2 October 18.00 and in Skara Domkyrka 4 October 19.30.
