Star bassist Richard Bona has played with greats like Pat Metheny, Wynton Marsalis and Bobby McFerrin. He is a tireless ambassador for music and culture from around the globe, as well as a versatile instrumentalist who combines it all.
Cameroon-born Richard Bona has joined forces with the Asante Trio, among others, for a surprisingly versatile channel for his desire to cross-pollinate various cultures into something entirely new and different. Now we hear him solo at the Gothenburg Concert Hall.
Richard Bona possesses an unequalled versatility. On the bass, he has the virtuosity of Jaco Pastorius, he has the vocal power of George Benson, and Joao Gilberto’s feel for melody and harmony. He weaves it all together in constant interplay with his roots, which then lead out across the entire African continent and show the path forward.
