The following applies to subscriptions: As we do not yet know when we will be allowed to welcome any audience into the Gothenburg Concert Hall, we will await the development during the autumn. Refunds will be made automatically as soon as we know how the autumn season will be affected, but no later than 15 January 2021.

Verve, energy and playfulness: the opening melody in Shostakovich’s first cello concerto haunts you and you just love it. Argentine virtuoso Sol Gabetta has been praised for her interpretation of the concert: “A technically formidable soloist” (Bachtrack).
She has the whole world as her field of work and collaborates with the leading orchestras and conductors, among them Sir Simon Rattle and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Gustavo Dudamel and Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. This is her first appearance with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. She replaces Truls Mørk who cannot come due to the corona pandemic.
The conductor, Klaus Mäkelä, also leads the orchestra in Sibelius’ enchanting Lemminkäinen Legends. The main character is Kalevala’s womaniser Lemminkäinen who has to pay dearly for his adventures. The four-piece suite’s most famous piece is The Swan of Tuonela, which in impressionistic twilight colours depicts a mysterious swan gliding around Tuonela, the island of the dead.
