Groupa is among the ultimate supergroups of progressive Nordic folk music. Now they return to Gothenburg Concert Hall for the fifth edition of their crossover series, Kind of Folk. This time, they present a curiosity-infused combination featuring traditional music from southern Poland.
Through their characteristic blend of older melodies, free improvisation, new compositions and imaginative instrumentation, Groupa has impacted an entire generation of musicians.
The group has previously released four albums in the series Kind of Folk – music in partnership with various artists with roots in Sweden, Norway, Iceland and the Iberian Peninsula. In this fifth part, released 2025, Groupa explores new musical paths with an unparalleled singer and violinist from Poland, Marta Matuszna. For a long time, she has been a driving force behind the preservation and development of the rich culture of the Żywiec Beskids mountain region of southern Poland.
After more than 40 years on stage, Groupa continuously seeks out new discoveries. There is every reason to continue to celebrate the group’s spectacular folk music collaborations.
