Göteborgs Konserthus No limits with Gageego!

The ensemble Gageego! are on a continuous journey of discovery through contemporary music. Here, they explore science and art in works by composers including Britta Byström, Jesper Nordin and Anna Thorvaldsdottir.  

Multi-award-winning composer Britta Byström has created music for poet Inger Christensen’s poetry collection Alphabet. She was deeply moved by the poems, which follow the Fibonacci sequence – the number of rows grows longer and longer, following a predetermined rate of increase. Similarly, the movements of Byström’s composition become longer and longer. Byström was inspired by how the details of beauty in nature become a protective spell against all threats.  

Science and art are similarly merged by Anna Thorvaldsdottir in her Entropic Arrows, where the music is an effort to reflect the physical world. Jesper Nordin’s piece Surfaces Scintillantes is something of the opposite. What we hear on the surface, he explains, is simply the basic material. He composed the piece using a digital drawing board.
