Göteborgs Konserthus Culture Night: The path of parents

Can a father and son spend time together without an activity or shared interest? If the answer is yes: why don’t you do that? If the answer is no: what would your relationship have been like if the fishing trip, the football match or the Winter Studio had not existed? Can a mother and daughter be best friends? If the answer is yes: how did it happen? If the answer is no: would you have wanted it?

Some want to learn from their parents’ mistakes, others want nothing more than to follow in their parents’ footsteps. But how easy is it to go your own way and how difficult is it to live up to someone else’s ideals? What insights can come to you when your mother or father is no longer around? And is it possible to portray the relationship in a fair way?

These quiz questionz will be answered by tonight’s guests. Björn Wiman, journalist and cultural director at Dagens Nyheter, is currently working on his book The Happiest Game. The book describes a father-and-son relationship that never really took off, and a father who never dared to get close to his children. It is also about how the children, in turn, did exactly the opposite. And about the uncomplicated joy that only a really good ski slope run can give.

Also a guest is Anna Mannheimer, comedian and journalist who has shared family problems  in her shows. With two public parents who gave Anna unconditional love, commitment was still absent.
