But many a Christmas since then, people have been captivated by the Christmas Oratorio’s heartfelt and jubilant music for orchestra, choir and vocal soloists. Parts 1-3 portray the birth of Jesus, and the events of the days thereafter.

Everything is held together by Laurence Equilbey, the Frenchwoman who has gained great respect as a choral conductor – she studied under Eric Ericsson – and who is also the principal conductor of the Insula Orchestra and the Accentus Choir that specialises in historically informed performances.
